Caring for lotre

Wool should be washed as rarely as possible and usually regenerates all by itself. The self-cleaning ability of wool stems from the fact that dirt and odors do not soak into the fiber, but lie only on its surface. Therefore, thorough airing is usually sufficient to care for your lotre garment.

If you do want to wash, we recommend hand washing all garments that have a wool, silk or cashmere component. Always wash your garments cold (below 30 degrees celsius) and with a special wool detergent. Avoid heavy scrubbing or wringing.

New washing machines sometimes offer an excellent wool or hand wash cycle that meets the above criteria and washes gently. However, we cannot guarantee the quality of your washing machine and therefore cannot provide replacements for products that have broken due to improper care or treatment. If you machine wash your wool, cashmere or silk garment, be careful to choose the wool or hand wash cycle. Make sure that the water temperature is max. 30 degrees celsius (or cold) and that you use a special wool detergent. You should also refrain from spinning.

It is best to place your garment in a towel after washing to avoid laying it out to dry soaking wet. Afterwards, knitwear should always be dried lying down (not hanging) to prevent warping.

Knitted garments with a ribbed structure should always be dried lying down. Be sure to gently push the ribs of the wet garment together for drying (think of it as pushing an accordion together). In this way, the piece will always retain its elasticity when dried.

Fibers of animal origin, such as wool, cashmere and silk, are the favorites of moths. So, if possible, store your garments in a closet. We recommend lavender sachets or cedar wood as a natural way to keep moths away.
